Ask Me About My Nuts
Ask Me About My Nuts is a place to dig deeper into regenerative farming—what it looks like on the ground here at Burroughs Family Farms, why we believe in it, and how you can make a difference with the food you eat. Subscribe to get full access to the newsletter and publication archives.
Meet Your BFF Benina
I’m Benina Burroughs Montes, Managing Partner of Burroughs Family Farms (BFF) and a 4th-generation family farmer in California’s Central Valley. My family has been growing food on this land for over a century – starting with my great-grandfather Benjamin Burroughs who came to California in 1894 and started a dairy in the Bay Area.
In the 1970’s, my grandfather Ernest founded our present day farm in the northern San Joaquin Valley, which was eventually taken over by my parents, Ward and Rosie Burroughs. Today, my family and I manage 1,200 acres of land, including almond, walnut and olive orchards, using regenerative organic practices. We are the first almond orchard in the world to be certified by both the Regenerative Organic Alliance and Regenified.
Who’s This For?
Ask Me About My Nuts is for anyone who cares about what we’re putting in our bodies, how it’s grown, and the impact that has on our health, communities, climate, and our future. Whether you’re already well-versed in regenerative or just getting started, we’re here to share what we’ve learned, what we’re still figuring out, and why it all matters.
Thanks for being part of our community!
